New Reef Octopus skimmer

i just turned on my reef ocotopus SRO3000 skimmer. I have a build thread going for anyone that's interested. The skimmer is going crazy!! I'm curious if that's normal for a break in period or how long it will take to calm down. My tank is empty, fill 2 days ago, nothing adding, brand new skimmer. Thank you

That is typical for any new skimmer. It will break in.

I have been running a reef octopus classic 202-s for a little over a year. When I fired it up first time, I let it run full open and no collection cup for about an hour then closed half way for a second hour. Replaced collection cup and tuned to operating flow. Never had an issue after that. This is how my buddy broke his skimz in also.

I got mine 2 weeks ago. It was a little crazy for a day or 2 but started working fine day 3. Its been great since.
