NEW REEF SALT

So... many of you know that live aquaria is coming out with a new salt mixed that they currently use in their own coral facilitie and it will be available mid to late September.
With a DKH of around 9. Magnesium 1350 to 1400 and calcium 440 to 450.
I'm interested to see how many people are going to try it, especially SPS people.
Some parts that stood out at me was the fact that the magnesium level is right where they should be unlike most other salt manufactures. And the alkalinity is not through the roof like other manufacturers.
What are your thoughts?

There will always be new products coming to market and I love seeing new things in this hobby but I learned my lesson with salt. I use coral pro and I keep the alk at 9ish. I've switched twice and will never do it again. If it works then don't change it has played a roll in my reefkeeping.

I started out with Aquavitro Salinity then Red Sea Coral Pro and now I'm using Red Sea blue bucket.

I have tried several but settled on Seachem Reef Salt and been using it for 6 years and love it.
Then........they stopped making it. I bought a year supply and when I am out I have no idea what brand I will use. Maybe Fritz

I use regular old IO and just add whatever I need to add to get the params right and I still come out cheaper then any of the other buckets for what I want to run. I don't seem to have the same residue problems some have had. I test each new batch once for consistency just like I would any other brand then I'm set for additions until it runs out.

I see no reason to change my IO salt but if you have seen Divers Den or Kevin Kohen's tank in person , you won't question his success .

Out of the world fish collection is an understatement for Kevin's tank .

If it's good enough for him , it will be great for anyone in the hobby .

I am a little worried about the range of alk given in the specs. Does this mean that each batch will be different, but somewhere in that range?

I just want a consistent salt that I can then doctor to my needs. I have tried a few others for short periods of time, but IO is always on the money and then I can add the same amounts Muratic Acid and Dowflake to make it perfect.

I would like to switch to IO because it is inexpensive but over the years just had problems. Low Mag, low K and low Cal most times.
But it has been at least 7 or more years since using it.

As far as the Live Aquaria Salt mix, not sure I personally would use it. I switched Cal, alk, and mag, brands from BRS to Dr Fosters and I had a noticeable difference in health of my tank. The Dr Fosters items did not mix fully clear and really looked like dirty water.
I used it for about 8 months and switched back.

I have tried instant Ocean, reef crystals, coral sea, oceanic, esv, Aquaforest, and now tropic Marin pro. This is over a 17 year span, but so far I have seen the best success with reef crystals and tropic Marin pro. When I was using oceanic my Alk was 20dkh! I got the brown film with instant ocean. The reason I switched from Aquaforest is I am using the triton method and it's the recommended salt mix.

I have switched a few times over the last decade. Finally settled on fritz RPM because it's inexpensive yet mixed the same parameters every time including 8.5dkh.
