Hey folks, was putting together a new reef shopping list and wanted to know everyones thoughts.

Red Sea Reefer 250
Reef Octopus Varios-2 792gph return pump
Reef Octopus Essence S-130 Skimmer
Maxspect Gyre XF330 pump kit with controller
Maxspect Gyre XF330 pump
Red Sea 4" filter cup x2
Eheim Jager 125w heater x2
40lb Caribsea Aragonite Special Grade Dry Sand x 2
40lbs MarcoRocks Reef Saver Dry Rock
15lbs MarcoRocks Reef Saver Shelf Rock

I will be re-using 2x Ecotech Radion XR15 Pro G4's with diffusers and RMS mounts. I'm also debating between a single media reactor or a dual media reactor from BRS for running Carbon and or GFO if required.

What do you folks think? Thanks!

Looks like a good list so far. I prefer double single reactors compared to dual if you can fit in your sump.

With a list like that make sure you are in it for the long haul. Just looking at it it’s going to be costly. A little advice go as big as you can reasonably handle because once you get started you are going to say “I think we need a bigger tank”. Otherwise you got the right idea. Buying the good equipment to begin with. I think you got this:)

Awesome thanks! I'll hold off on getting the reactors until I have the system to make sure I have enough room first.

Definitely! My first attempt was a budget 20 gallon that I had running for 3 years. My current systems are a nuvo 10 and nuvo 20 that I've had running for the past 6 months and I already want to go bigger lol. A 3 foot tank is about as big as I'm comfortable going with as I'm currently in an apartment and will be purchasing a house within the next 2-3 years. I figure a reefer 250 will be manageable moving to my new home and I could possibly reuse some equipment from it if I decide to go bigger
