Hi all.. I had a fowler about 15 years ago so a lot has changed. I have done some research and here is my plan:

Mixed Reef tank SPS/LPS
SCA 100 Gallon rimless tank. 48 x 20 x 24
Reef Octopus skimmer
Reef Octopus Varios 6 return pump
2- Maxspect Gyre XF 250
Apex Controller
40 gal DIY sump
Light will be Current USA till I can get better lights
DIY
Chaeto Reactor
DIY Tank Stand
10 Gallon QT tank. (everything and i mean everything will go in here 60 or longer )

I am excited, just waiting for tank to arrive and build stand. Still missing a lot of equipment but working on it.

Welcome to R2R and the reefing side of saltwater:)

Welcome!

have some questions:
1- I am using dry rock and live sand, Do i need to cycle rock before going in tank or can I wash off and cycle in tank?
2- I am going to use the shrimp method to cycle. After adding shrimp how long do i keep it in and do i need to add ammonia or ghost feed the tank?
3- what test kits do i need to get?

anyone ? lets hear it

I never used dead rock only used live rock and had great results. I see so many people struggling with dead rock on this forum I guess I just don't see the advantage. Tampa Bay Saltwater or a similar vendor might be a better option to mature your tank. Just my 2 cents.
