New Reef Tank Documentary

I had just heard about this documentary coming out next year called the Dark Hobby. It's against the reefing community for stealing all of the fish. Although the trailer looks uninformed (Aka captive bred freshwater fish, claiming 99% of our fish die within a year) there is probably some truth to it. I got out of the hobby for a few years after learning that most reef fish are wild caught. I just got back in and have decided I only want captive bred but even then I've gotten a couple inverts and things that I'm pretty sure aren't so I'm not at all saying I'm above anyone else here. Just wanted to see what you guys think of this. Here's the trailer:

Blackfish nonsense. If it weren’t for the hobby, we wouldn’t be able to do things like save the reef by propagating corals and planting them back in the ocean. Are these guys against fishing for food also?

We are always polluting or destroying something as we progress. Maybe we shld just go back to the caveman ages.but then we'd still kill for food

Crap like this is so sad to see and just false. The true is the the aquairum hobby has nearly a zero impact on the oceans and reefs. No only that but the the jobs the collecting and shipping of fish and corals it generates in low income countries and island nations. Most aquaculture facilities also help rebuild reefs and aid in marine research.

I just wish these people would use real research and statistics, but if they did they they would see they are unfounded in their beliefs.

I still cannot reason why these people are after the aquarium trade when we have less than a .01% impact compared to the food fish industry.

I think it has been proven in HI with the yellow tang. Research has proven it is sustainable, which is why HI did not ban the aquarium trade collecting.
