Hey all,

Just a quick intro from myself. I'm a long time fresh water enthusiast diving into the salt water scene. I'm just in the process of flipping a 75 long into a salt tank. Currently waiting for my first cycle. I've been reading so much over the last week my head is about to explode. Hope to continue to learn from you all and thanks for having me :)

Welcome! Ask a lot of questions. You'll learn a ton here!

This is were it stands today. I'm using the seeding method. I know it will take more time but will save me money too

Nothing wrong with starting with dry rock. It is becoming the preferred method these days.

Tank looks great! You are going to love having saltwater!

I changes up the rocks this morning after reading the post on aquascaping. The one thing I'm confused with is this fragging thing. I've seen plenty of pics but how do these corals get onto your rocks. It seems kinda ugly to have all those little squares laying everywhere

Robert,

Welcome to R2R..

looks like you are learned the first lesson of saltwater reefing...Patience...you will need a lot of it to be successful.

while you are waiting, I would suggest you get this book (if you don't have it already) to read:

The Conscientious Marine Aquarist: A Commonsense Handbook for Successful Saltwater Hobbyists (Microcosm/T.F.H. Professional): Robert M. Fenner, Matthew L. Wittenrich, Scott W. Michael, Alf Jacob Nilsen, Christopher Turk: 9781890087999: Amazon.com: Bo

It will answer most of the questions you might have...excellent book...I own it and after 20yrs in this hobby, I still refer to it as a reference from time to time.

where did you get red lava rock?
does it leach out PO4??

Whoa! Time out...... You need to get rid of that lava rock ASAP. Not sure what it does to water chemistry but when I started In saltwater about 15yrs ago it's what I had. No inverts lived more than a few days :(. Better get some dry rock from a reputable dealer.

Oh and welcome to R2R :)

Uhm thanks I think......lol. I would like to assume that my LFS wouldn't steer me wrong when I got it. Sigh

PO4 is phosphates..

unfortunately, some LFS only care about selling you stuff you may not need...I would remove the lava rock...
