New reefer...so far so good.

Hello all, I just wanted to break the ice here and show you my tank. I stole this 150 from someone getting out of the hobby. He didn't want to transport it for a move. I was able to transport somewhere around 100 gallons, so i had a pretty quick startup. The seller neglected to tell me about the leak in the bulkheads, but that was nothing a couple of trips to the hardware store and a few new gaskets couldn't fix. So without further ado.

As for questions...there are a million, but most pressing are; what are the suggested water parameters? Also does anyone not run a protein skimmer, and are there any pros to not, before i fork out for one?

Welcome. Nice size tank to start with. I think a protein skimmer is almost a must but that is my opinion. You plan on having a reef tank or only fish? I did see some mushrooms in your tank.

Yeah, I plan on getting some reef soon. I wanted to make sure i was up and running, so i didn't end up murdering anything. I have that sweet tiered shelf rock on the left side that is deserving of some quality reef.

right on!!! i feel that a protien skimmer is one of the more important pieces of equipment in the hobby, i think its also one of the coolest looking pieces of equipment in the hobby. ;}
