New reefers confused

Hi all, it’s great to be here.
We have a new mini reef 120 and only just added salt water, dry rock and media today. Do we need to run the skimmer for 10 days before we start the 30 day cycle kit?

Its not necessary if you dont want to but it will help run it in and clean the tank a little. It also helps aerating the tank but as you have no stock in again ,not necessary. I always run one when cycling a tank.

You can run the skimmer to break it in during the cycle but I would remove the collection cup
