Hi everyone

Thought I would finally take the plunge and start on my new tank post.

The tank is currently 3 months old; it is the new reefsys 255 with a 44 litre sump.

Currently have the following installed

Caribsea live sand bed
2 x AI Hydra 26HD lights
8 kg Real reef rock
Bubble Magus Curve 5 Skimmer
Bubble Magus Mini 70 media reactor - running Seachem de*nitrate filter media
2 x Hydor 5600 Smartwave
TMC 4000 DC reefpump
TMC Reef Bio Gro S Algae rector - running off a TMC 2000 DC pump
D-D H2Ocean P4 dosing pump - dosing Triton Core 7 Reef elements
2 x bags Nyos Active carbon - 1 in each filter sock

Currently using Aquaforest reef salt and doing weekly 10% water changes and dosing 6 ml Vibrant weekly

Stock wise I have

1 x 6 line wrasse (Pseudocheilinus Hexatanu)
2 x True Percula Clown fish ( Pomacentridae sp)
2 x Fire fish ( Nemateleotris Magnifica)
2 x Blue Cheek Goby ( Valenciennes Strigata)

My current parameters are

My algae reactor is currently running as I’m waiting for a delivery of some Chaeto Linux.

So I suppose my questions are -

Does everything look balanced?
Am I missing anything?
Any tweaks or advice on what I might need to change?

Look forward to hearing any feedback

Thanks
Matt

Nice write up! Post a pic of the tank.

You’re parameters look good. What type of tank are you planning on running? SPS dominate, Mixed, etc. Are you using vibrant to keep the algae down?

hi
will be posting a photo shortly. I’m using the vibrant to just keep on top of everything. I’m hoping to have a mixed reef eventually but want to start slowly with a few easy to maintain corals. not sure what exactly I want but some on the sand bed and some on the rock.

Thanks for the posting the pics! I’d stop the vibrant and get a cleaning crew :). You might also want a little more rock, you’re gonna run out of space really quick once you start adding corals.

Sorry, just realised I hadn’t listed them but I have a clean up crew, about 8 hermit crabs both red legged and striped legged. Also around 12 Trochus snails and a True Peppermint Shrimp. I wanted to keep the rock to a minimum to have a more open display in the tank. But I’m okay with the precept of adding more if required.

Hey Matt what do you think of the ReefSys? Do you recommend? I was considering the 180. I’m new to the hobby. :)

I think it’s a brilliant tank and definitely value for money. Would certainly recommend these tanks. Very easy to set up and manage.

Hi

well thought I would update. I have recently added

Two AI Nero 5 Powerheads
3 Nassarius Snails
4 Cerith Snails
4 Spiny Astrea snails

All snails were added to help keep the sand bed turned and as clean as possible, with the exception of the Astrea snails as I have a few minor outbreaks of GHA

Just wondering of there is anything obvious I am missing - apart from Calcium being slightly high

thanks

So I have been advised by a couple of people on here to add some more rock to my tank. Its 255 ltrs of which 47 lts is the sump. Its has been up and running since early March and my levels from today are all in an earlier post.
so my question is what is the best type of rock to add now without triggering a mini cycle. Curren have Reel Reef rock in there.

Tank is looking good! How many lbs of rock do you have? Honestly I have seen less in successful tanks.

Hi
currently have 15lb of Reel reef rock in the display tank and a further 4 lb of Carib sea life rock in the sump

thanks

was excited to see this post current looking at the same tank myself, yours looks great, i was a bit worried that the overflow box in the middle might look bad, but it doesnt, cant go and see them in person as we are in hard lock down in Australia nsw, i want to build a high ish rock in the centre with arches and shelf rocks etc, branching across, i have carribsea life rock im going to transfer, i have 1 sometimes 2 mean clowns, and a royal gramma and chromis who currently all want to live in the same place, my cave or elegance coral lol
