Hello so I got a brand new return nozzle for my Red Sea 750 and I hooked it up turned it on and it shot out this black spotty stuff idk how to describe it almost like peeling skin but black idk if it is okay I can’t do a water change as it’s 10 at night could this harm my corals or fish?

Hard to say without seeing what you are talking about. Could it have been in the return line prior to adding the new nozzle, or, could it have been some loose plastic remnants from manufacturing?

If it is loose plastic will it hurt the tank when I took out my filter socks they were black

Sounds like carbon..
Loose plastic won't hurt the tank, but carbon loose in the system can be an irritant to corals. I'd leave the socks in for now, or replace with new and rinse as necessary.

Is it soft and tissue like, hard/plastic like or pellet shape or particle shaped?
Pics would be of value

Could be some sort of residue of the manufacturing process.
Or the parts could have been dropped into something and not cleaned prior to packaging and shipping.

In any case not good, I agree change socks until its gone.

I have no pics since the particles are so small it’s hard for me to get one they don’t look like carbon as my carbon has a distinct look and I run my carbon in a media reactor

As nderwater stated.... find was such as socks or nylon to catch and trap it from entering tank

Did it stop? Was it only an initial residue release? Is it running ok now?
I don’t wanna keep opening new threads so lol anyways my um nitrate is through the roof like I’m talking as high as my Red Sea fest kit can go I have a refugium but it doesn’t seem to be helping very much I keep doing water changes but it keeps going back up what could it be the sump is almost bare bottom it has a slimmer filter socks and media reactor the the tank have live rock and coral and aroun 15 fish 3 fangs in there and 5 clownfish 1 damsel 3 cardinals and it’s a 200 gallon fish tank so the bioload isn’t bad

How long has it been running?

+1 for keeping filter socks in place. Another thing that’ll help is blowing off the rock work and siphoning the sandbed into the filter sock.

You could try a massive water change. And then adding new bacteria (Dr Tim’s).

What’s your ammonia’s and other tests reading at?
