Here is a link to the thread about how I ended up with this amazing anemone. When I found out it was coming I started doing a lot of reading but still feel like i need more advice bc of the difficulty of keeping this nem. https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/an...-amemone-questions-dumb-local-fish-store.html
Here are some pics of it

Oh by the way in case you cant tell my clowns love it. Right now its on the bottom of the tank on some rocks, as i was trying to get it to release the bag it settled to there before I could get the net to move it up high it had already attached to the live rock. I re adjusted one of my power heads down in its direction to give it some flow and figure if its not happy it will move but so far going on 3 days its not moved and looks happy it has never deflated at all as far as i know. It ate a piece if krill earlier today.

Very nice nem!! I love mine so much, I'm going to get rid of my 10+ inch rose bta. I feed mine 2-3 tikes a week and my clowns love it as well. This nem of mine has also bounced back from being reduced in half by my overflow, all throughout this last year. GL with your new beauty.

Ok so now im really concerned about the nem I did a water change this morning and went to town and when I come home a few hours its delfated and mouth wide open. I know its normal for them to deflate once when its first introduced and this is the first time ive saw it do it but should the mouth be wide open?

Is it releasing anything (basically using the restroom)?

I havent saw anything coming out of it, but my clowns stay in it and dik if they would have too off with it some where or not, Yea i know it needs high light i have it under 2x250mh 14k phoneix bulbs plus a Evo 200 led unit there is plenty of light, It settled on the rock bottom and attached before i could grab the net and move it highter. If its not happy wouldnt it move on its own toward the top? It seams to be slowly be re inflating

Hopefully it was just expelling some waste like Saltgator said. The clowns could possible help remove any waste faster than if it had to do it on its own. The fact it's still in the same spot is hopefully a good sign. It looked really good in the first shot so just keep watching it and try to keep it happy by not trying to move it and feedings. I really don't know how often to feed it so hopefully you can find a good answer online or someone here.

Cover your powerheads, it is going to move.

Hopefully it only inflates/deflates one or 2 more times. They have a nasty habit of getting into a inflate/deflate cycle before dying.

Trust me, it'll move on it's own. Mine has been relocated twice only to return to the same spot, it's current one. I too believe it's under enough light as well, mine is strictly under LEDs and growing. Do you have any mouth shots for us to see for maybe a better idea of what might be happening?

When i got the camera to tey and take a new pic the mouth is closed again abd it looks almost exactly like the first pic i posted except for when it reinflated it is probably 3" or so bigger than it was before. Could it have just been expelling all the junk out of it from shipping and where i fed it a piece of krill yesterday?

That would be guess. Glad to hear it closed back up. Keep us posted.

So going into 4 complete days in my tank and the nem looks great. It hasnt moved from were it landed and keeps looking bigger every day as I think its getting adjusted to the tank. I have fed it twice krill every other day and it has ate as soon as it was fed, It has only deflated the one time and that was the day after i fed it the first time. My clarki clowns are loving it, I know its still early in the game with this species but how long does it usually take them to settle in completly and i can breath again thinking it might survive long term?

Ok so this morning its half deflated and mouth open again, I see nothing coming out. Is it normal for it to do this soon after everytime i feed it because thats when it seams to deflate and the mouth open? I know they expell the waste from eating but ive never saw anything come out. I'm afraid its going into a deflate/inflate cycle and gonna die on me.

IMO, it's normal. Mine will do this every day after I feed. As far a feeding, mine will eat every day if I let it. Questions: does it grab the krill or are you having too keep it there (in the nem) until it closes? Basically, is it sticky (I wouldn't advise touching it as this might cause stress)? Call it what some may, but mine will protrude it's mouth if i don't keep up on feedings (not a gaping open mouth, but rather a bubbly mouth). This goes away after feedings (again, this is mine and each nem is different). My mag nem is sticky enough that flakes, pellets and anything else gets caught within it. Are you feeding frozen or freeze dried krill?

It is most definitely sticky lol. And its frozen krill it takes it in and holds it on its own and has to battle the clowns to keep it so it eats fast

I think I'm loosing it. The mouth is wide open and has been sense last night its staying about half deflated and just dosent look good at all and wouldn't eat today.I have no idea what else I can do for it. I'm gonna do a wc when I get home tonight and hope for the best. It still hasn't moved from where it was on the bottom of the tank. Should I they and move it up to the top? Could it be doing it bc a lack of light being so low?
