ok so I need a new filter.....
I am wondering which one would do a better job..
24gpd
36gpd
50gpd
75gpd
am looking at a better rejection rate so stop burning so much DI
I have a booster pump and not worried on how fast it makes water
thanks

I think 75g is pretty common, how fast are you burning through DI resin?
Have you checked CO2 levels in your water? That'll eat up di resin quick

I have a 2"x10" cartridge and I wanna say bout a month..
in that time between top off and water changes i'll make I think bout 100 gals..

if do have CO2 how would fix that :/

Hmm what rodi are you using? Ro buddie? Seems like a small di cartridge.
First thing is to test your tds in to the unit. Then test it out of the membrane. Use a handheld tds meter, you can get one on Amazon for like $20.
Then you can determine how much the membrane is taking out, you want it to be in the high 90% range.
If you are getting high tds out of the membrane, it may need to be replaced.
If it is low tds, then you need to determine if it's high CO2.
If it's high CO2 you would need to look into a degassing chamber. That is basically a container that water out of the membrane goes into with a bubbler to aerate it before it goes into the di resin.
Check out spectrapure.com their faqs section has a lot of info for figuring out what the issue is.

yes Ro buddy
uuummmmm ok....
degassing chamber???? all I could find was vacuum chambers...

I have a handheld tds meter and will take reading tomarow
my membrane is just over a year old and fig just replacement time

ok I think the is a** backwards but....
readings are... and I checked them three times....

out of tap 265tds
RO waste 445tds
before DI 006tds

Ok those numbers look ok. I get 280 out the tap and 6tds out the membrane, that's around 97% which is good. The ro waste water will be higher than tap, that's normal.
2 things to check for Chloramine in your water supply. Can look at the city water report and see if they use it. Chloramines will deplete your di resin quickly if your system isn't designed for it.

I'd that's not the issue, Then check for CO2 it will also deplete di resin quickly.

ah well ok thanks :)
I do run a carbon block from brs for chloramines tho....

am still on fence which size filter tho....

How Olds the chloramine block and have you checked for total chlorine after the carbon blocks.

You are getting a good rejection rate from your membrane. I wouldn't think it needs to be replaced yet.

no haven't......
need to get test strips for that...
n I not member when I changed it... tho is prob due...

I'd check that and see if it's what's eating up the resin.

I was wondering can I use ANY ro water system to make aquarium water

Probably... so long as you end up with a TDS of 0. The question is how much it will cost you... if it's not a membrane with a high rejection rate you will spend a fortune on di resin bringing the YES to zero.
On the other hand, I've heard of some people with like 40TDS out of the tap who only use di resin..

If I was buying a unit today, I would get a spectrapure system. You can even call them and talk to them about your water quality and what would be best
