New RO membrane and question about flow restrictors

Just got a new membrane from BRS(75 gal/day)for my system. I've never changed one out before and figured a flow restrictor would be included with it. It is not. Kinda bummed as i was hoping to get it fired up tonight.

Here is a pic of my existing flow restrictor that was on the system when i bought it(used). Is it ok to run the system with this one until i get a new one tomorrow? What is the preferred flow rate for my membrane?

Yes, the 550 model is the recommended RO flush valve for a 75gpd system.

Also, unless the flush valve is leaking on your old system, you don't need to replace it with your new membrane. I just replaced mine a couple months ago, but it was leaking.

Thank you for that. No, it is not leaking but i heard they can slowly change flow rates if used too long

I haven't heard that... but might be true. They are only around $10 to replace, so good piece of mind to replace if concerned. I didn't notice any flow increase after changing mine... which was several years old.

This is true. I’ve had to replace mine on my Spectrapure a couple times. Frequency likely depends on the composition of your municipal tap coming into the system. What’s your rejection rate?

On the old one i have about 75 going in and 1 coming out. It increased to 2tds and i decided to change the membrane.

Running the new one now for the initial hour and then I'll give it another 20 min or so and take a reading
