I'm just in the process of changing my RO membrane for the first time and I'm having a hard time finding instructions. I assume it needs to have some water run through it for a while before using just like all the other filter stages. How long does it need to rinse, and can this be done using the flush valve on my system or should it be run normally with the DI cannisters removed? Any other tips or guidelines?

Run it normally with DI removed.

Depending on the membrane it may be quick or take longer.

Is it a dry or wet membrane?

Also when installing ensure the seal is not damaged in anyway, and that you hear the click, pop, etc. when you insert it into the housing.

This is the membrane I'm using:

75 GPD Reverse Osmosis Membrane - Dow Filmtec

The guide on BRS says run water for a few minutes but I saw some other guides that said as much as an hour or two. Bit of a difference!

DOWs are usually fairly quick, but that is a dry shipped membrane. Dry membranes will take longer to get to peak efficiency as they need to become saturated again with water. I'd let it run ~ 30 minutes and check your TDS out, go from there.

It may take 1+ hours depending on how long it's been sitting in a warehouse.

Awesome, thank you for your help!
