I just added 2 standard rock anemones into my tank. 2-3 days later I have noted that my leather corals, gorgonians & other zoas are not opening.
Is there a chance the rock anemone is emitting some kind of toxin? They are not near each other or touching. I have also had 1 rock anemone in the tank as a hitchhiker since day 1 that lays on substrate.
Puzzled.

Probably not. If you were messing in the tank, the leathers and gorgs will react to that. They are touchy fellows. As long as they are just closed and no necrosis or algae build up, they will be fine. Never heard of a rock nem causing an issue with those two. I have had them together many times. Then again, what leather and gorgs are we talking about? Can be a factor, but probably not.

are you running carbon?

I have a bag of chemipure I have dropped into my filter sock. I have not done anything different from normal the last 3yrs. Just added these 2 anemone.
Why?
Is there a correlation between rock anemones and carbon?

I have decided to use a coral conditioner dip with my weekly water change tomorrow on all the rocks in my tank.

Have your nutrient levels changed? Softies not opening could be a drop in n or p from use from the anemones?
