and also prodibio bacteria and dr tims supplement. i then placed the dry rock into the saltwater that was 3 days old. is the bacteria " infusion " to the rock speeding up the maturity of the rock? it just seemed to me that bacteria "sucked" into the rock would establish the rock faster?

Welcome to R2R! Though, I have to admit I'm a little confused by what you did and what your asking. It may just be that I'm tired :(

Is this a new tank set up? Is rock sitting in a tub of saltwater?are you trying to cure the rock ? Need more info

Sorry about the unknowns from my first thread. It is a 10 G tank with a powerhead to cure some very porous coral. The "shake " was saltwater from LFS with 1 cap gravel , I shook the mixture up and added half the "dirty water" plus the other bacteria to three day old Instant ocean at 1.0245 S.G. Would the Infused water cycle the coral faster or is it more dependent on "food" added? sorry about it being a month to check my system for answers as that was the second E Mail I have ever tried to send - In my life. I will try to tame this beast so i can talk to you folks. I just tried to learn how to get my mails and this happened. My first aquarium was in 1957 so this machine is a little new to me. Thank you MELYPER and PONDMAN for sending back. I will *^@!! learn this machine. Later.

Welcome back! So it sounds like your just using this tank to cycle some live rock right? What you did probably added some detritus to the bacteria you added which will indeed start the cycle. You can still add an ammonia source to this tank to help build up a healthy population of bacteria. So using a raw shrimp, fish food, or even pure ammonia will get the job done for you.

have you been testing the water that the Rock is in once it goes through the cycle you should be good to go.
