Brand new BRS 6 stage deluxe plus. Finally hooked up. It is leaking from the last carbon block canister and the elbow that comes out of that carbon block canister.
The gauge shows 65 psi, I don’t think that’s too high.
Do I have to get new elbow or does it just need adjusted somehow? Can I use some type of plumbers tape or silicone??
On the canister...I will take it off and tighten it again.
The unit came assembled. All I had to do was mount the unit, and install the red line to the source water. I didn’t even hook up the di canisters yet because this is the first use and it should be flushed.

Side note...what is this and which way is it supposed to go when I want to make water? it came turned in this position. image.jpg

Help me reef2reef!

65 psi is not to much, You may be able to just tighten that elbow however you might need longer hose if you don’t have enough slack.. not sure about valve, someone will probably chime in. Have you contacted @BRS they have great customer service and I’m sure they will assist you.

and that is the flush valve. It allows all the water pressure to flow across the membrane to clean it
It is is in the make water position. If you turn it most of the water will come out of the waste water line. If you forget to turn it back you will make a post here that your RODI isn't working.

I would use Teflon tape on them. It appears that is what BRS uses. To get the line out of the push to connect fitting I use needle nose pliers to hold the collar in while I pull the tube out.

They are good people but things happen. My RODI from them came with the canisters screwed on backwards So incoming water hit the resin first. Quick to fix.

Thanks everyone for the replies!! BRS phone center is only open Monday through Friday, I tried calling. I’m going to send an email, I don’t know if anyone watches those over the weekend though. On my way to a family function so will deal with it when I get back in a few hours.

If the gasket still gives you problems try putting it in boiling water for about a minute & letting it cool.
With PVC it is better to use a teflon based thread sealant.

I’m creating an order with BRS and waiting for their email reply on what to do. I retightened the canister and it’s still leaking. I haven’t messed with the elbow yet.

I’ve been told that the ro membrane shouldn’t dry out after getting wet. Well...mine is going to do exactly that. Do I have to get a new ro membrane too or does it not matter since it ran for less than 2 minutes and I still need to flush out the membranes since they are all new?

It will be fine. If you put water to it there will still be some in it. Now if you let it sit for a month or 2 maybe not.

I love BRS, they’ve helped me out many times & answered all sorts of silly questions.

What do you mean they were screwed on backwards? The canisters were in the wrong slot? Like the di resin was where the sediment filter is supposed to go?? My canisters are all in the right spot I think. Something is up with the last one though.

Mine went resin, carbon, sediment. Backwards. I took the end bottoms off and swapped them.

They get most of my business. Some stuff they don't have or are out of stock when I need it..

Mine was leaking at that elbow like yours. When I called them they said send it back to be repaired or I could fix it myself and they gave me a $7.00 dollar credit.

BRS sent new o rings for the canister and a new elbow. Why can’t I get this canister off?!?! All the others come off with very little effort.

Put a small amount of 100% silicone grease on the O rings.

I assume you mean when I get the new one on?? And it will help me be able to get it off easier when the filter needs changed?

Yes. Still can't get the old ones off?

This mother sucker will NOT come off.:mad::mad: I’m done being mad, now I want to cry. If I take out the 4 screws connecting the canister to the bracket can just that one canister come off or do I have to take all 3 off?? I really don’t want to disassemble the thing...

Edit @Bulk Reef Supply the leaky canister will NOT come off. One more ounce of pressure on the wrench and I’m sure the screws will rip out from the top of the canister

Well, taking the screws of the canister will disconnect it from the bracket, then you unplug the water lines. The thing is you won't have any leverage to hold the top to turn the canister housing. Sucker must be very tight not to turn! I've had them tight to the point that I felt it would make me pull the whole thing off the wall!
