I got a S. Haddoni in today that was ordered from DD on Friday--mouth was gaping terribly and was placed in tank after 45 minute drip acclimation. Mouth has tightened slightly and has inflated some--problem is, it hasn't attached. I dug a hole in the sandbed and placed it there for about 30 minutes with flow turned off and still hasn't attached after a few tries--any ideas guys--the outlook doesn't look good as the mouth is still gaping--thanks for the help--

lighting

did you reduce/turn off the lighting?

Also I'd just leave it be. Messing with it will just make it even more unhappy.

Also did you dig the hole so that it was near a rock? From what I've seen they like to attach to the rock near the sand bed first ... then move into the sand.

Thanks for the reply--Yes, it was placed in a hole at sand/rock interface--I have turned off the powerheads in DT to reduce the possiblity of it blowing around and have stopped messing with it.

Can you post a pic of it showing the gaping mouth? I agree, I'd just leave it be and try and keep it's intro as stress free as possible.

This morning, mouth is still gaping and still hasn't attached--don't know what else to do except wait and see. Not looking good for the home team--

I have a picture on my phone, but don't have the power cord to hook up to my computer--will try that later.

has it always been gaping the same or has it gotten bigger and smaller at different times of the day? Has it ever inverted its stomach?

Also my guess is that since it hasn't attached that the tentacles are not sticky?

Can you tell us the current diameter of the anemone and then also the diameter of the gaping mouth?

How much flow do you normally have where you have placed the anemone and how much flow is currently there?

Please also tell us the lighting that your currently are using and the length of time that you have them on. Would be even better if you had taken par measurements so we know how much par is at the bottom of the tank.

I making an assumption here but I'm assuming your water parameters are all in check. Can you list them?
