I’m setting up a mixed reef and I would like any input on when to add a carbon reactor. Not certain of the timing in relation to development of the system. This will be a HOB. I was looking at a two little fishies model, but would also like your opinions.
Reef on.

How big is your tank? I have a 40g and just toss a bag of carbon in the sump.

Good question. I have a 55. Not big but a good size for me. For better or worse, I’m not running a sump. Plan on fairly intensive parameter monitoring of course.
Appreciate your answer.

I’ve heard that reactors can cause the carbon to break into small pieces because of the agitation. I’ve only used a reactor for gfo. Are you going to hang equipment on the back of the tank?

I do. My space is somewhat limited and a sump is just not workable. Next time though! Do you think that gfo might be an overkill for me. I’m definitely not greatly educated in this area.
