Hello I just got myself a new salt mix, a reef salt so now I'm wondering ...do I need to add the new water little by little?or can I do a normal water change, changing as many water as I please? Will it affect the parameters or could it cause a negative effect on my softies, fish and invertebrates? Any help I'd appreciate. It is the first time I'm changing salt brand and specially I'm.changing it from basic (fish salt) to a reef one. THANK U ALL :3

Just change it as you normally do.

Salt mix will vary brand from brand mostly in the amount of calcium and magnesium they contain.

Thank you! I usually do large water changes to keep the tank clean

Is the salt comparable to what you were using. Ie Ca alk Mg.
If not i would dose water to bring to current levels before adding to tank.
Then change as you would normally do.
I have switched to two 5% water changes a week and have seen an improvement In corals etc.
Mix only until all parameters are stable. Temp PH Ca Mg Alk. Don't mix more than four hours.

Also I assume you use RO/DI water.

If your wondering I use rs coral pro

They are not at all! Like 4 exmple my calcium level with this basic fish mix was around 300ppm which I didn't care about as I only had zoas but know I've got a candy which its stony so that's why I got the one reef crystals

Reef crystals will work. When you star getting more corals growing than you will need higher levels. The reef crystals should work just fine for why you bought it.
Try the two smaller changes a week it's not that hard and it will keep things right where you need them

All rite then thanks for the help! ;) I also got an euphyllia (torch coral) but I think its dying :s

As long as the parameters are the same as what you have been using you should be fine. You don't want a large swing when changes salt. You might want to do smaller water changes so to acclimate tank to new salt.

I'll start with small water changes then, thanks for the help :) my tank is 25 lts so I'll start with 5 lts a week, I usually do a 10 liters every Sunday
