Hi Randy I was curious about something. Im using H2O D-D salt and when I mix up a new batch my Alkalinity comes out to 9.7 but im running 8.5 in my mixed reef tank. I have LPS, Zoos and a few monticaps. My question is should i bring my tank up to what the salt mixes at so that when i do water changes(25G on a 110G system) there isnt a spike in ALK level. Or is this ok to do it the way i have been. Im running a BRS 2-part dosing system. Just not sure what way to go. Thanks for the amazing help you give to so many of us reefers.

The "spike" is only from 8.5 to 8.77 dKH. That doesn't seem enough to worry about. :)

If that still concerns you, you can drop the alk in the new salt water with muriatic acid or other products, or do more, small water changes.

Ok thank you so much for you help. I will just stay with what im doing. Just wanted to see if you thought it would be a concern.
