New salt with lower dkh

Would the ALK swing though hurt my sps corals

if you’re not dosing it will eventually get pretty low. Would be gradual but obviously lower than where you are now.

you either need a salt that mixes yo your desired parameters or you need to dose.

Nope. Not a big enough swing to matter. I have SPS dom tank. The salt I use now is closer to to what I run in the tank, but too many people don't do the math, .2 dkh swing is nothing

it doesn't have to be at your exact desired parameters... i have an sps DOm tank. I used up an old bucket of rcp which is like 11dkh, i run 7... even 10% water ch, the change was so low, it did nothing.

You can lower the alk in freshly mixed salt with muriatic acid. It will lower the pH, so you have to mix for an extra day, or so, to drive off the co2 that you created.

gallons * desired dKh driop * .123 is the MLs of muriatic acid to use.

Once you get to a certian level, you have to doctor any salt, so I just use the best that I can find (IO) and add some calcium and lower the alk a bit. It took me a few hours to figure out the forumla and I have been using it for a decade.
