I'm looking to get away from Fritz as my calc alk and mag are not where I want them to be and havn't been since fritz became popular.

Any one have any other good quality brands of salt that i can look into?

I use instant ocean.

I see many users who like the Red Sea brand as well.

HW. Very high quality salt and wont break the bank when you need a new box. Mixes clean and fast, pharm grade ingredients, very consistent with alk, cal and mg. I just switch from HW to Fritz and like it nearly aw much as HW.

Red Sea Coral Pro seems to be working nice for me. Takes a bit longer then usual to mix but it does the job well.

This topic has been beat to hell on the internet. There probably isn't a brand that someone hasn't had success with at this point. Price is all comparable and they all generally are effective. Comes down to personal preference. I use instant ocean reef crystals and have no complaints

The best advice I've seen is to find one that has final mixing parameters you like so to minimize number swings. From my experience having one that has ALK close to my level is best for me. It allows me to a large water changes and not have a huge ALK swing. My corals hate quick ALK changes but do not seem to mind the Calc or Mag as much. From my experience all salts work.

Since all salts will work... The best advice I've seen is to get a salt close to the parameters you want your tank to be at. This helps minimize parameter wings. In my tank, swings in ALK seem to affect my corals the most so I target that number.

Agree with above, pick a salt that is close to the parameters u want, I use HW marine reefer mix and love it, mixes almost instantly and parameters r were I want them, at 1.026 parameters alk 8.5, cal 430, mag 1380

I agree as well. Go with a salt that mixes to how you like your tank's cal, alk and mg and that you can get reliably when you need it. If brand X works for you and your LFS awlays carries it then use that salt. What you dont want to do is switch salts all the time remember reefs want stability. For me HW and Fritz meet all my needs and likes.
