New Saltwater Adventure

Yea its tough making these decisions. I am just trying to get a solid plan together. The LFS (Bobs) here is great and have been so very helpful to me so far. They have a wealth of information and don't hesitate to share. I think for the most part I am going to follow their advice. The equipment they are telling me to run is the exact stuff they use themselves. A friend of mine also goes there and started his tank about 7-8 weeks ago, and its going great. Do you know of any local fish club or groups here? I haven't been able to find any.

Gabriel please continue research on here and other forums before completely buying into LFS advice. Don't forget...they are trying to make a sale. Not saying they are bad guys, but if you search long enough here, you'll find many posts by people who were misguided by LFS. Point is...research research research. Not all LFS have best husbandry practices. Just because they use or do something doesn't mean it's best for your tank.

I am still trying to figure out the quote thing, Gabriel so I hope my reply does not get lost in the mix. I did a search for reef clubs in Augusta and came up with an old thread with someone's cell phone. The last post was in 2014 so maybe it is still an active club.

I will definitely keep that in mind. I am not locked in to my setup yet and I am now on these forums for way more time than I should be. I still have at least a month before I will even begin to setup my tank. So I have nothing to do, but spend time planning and researching!!! Only thing I actually have as of right now is the Tank, Stand, and a heater. Everything else I am still researching. Heck I may build my own stand lol please keep the ideas flowing I love the how helpful and knowledgeable the people are on this forums.

Yea that's all I found as well. Are you going to the same LFS as me. Honestly I think that is the only one around here.

Yes, I think that is the only LFS here. I have only been there once at their current location. They have been around for a long time. Are you new to the area? There is more activity in Atlanta and Savannah. We have a fairly active dive community here, though.

Yes just moved here. So far not to bad I like it

So plans keep evolving and changing with the more reading I am doing. I am thinking about returning my 60g with stand and getting a Top Fin 75g i found thats only 30$ more than I paid for the 60g. I didn't really like the stand anyways and I want to build my own. If anyone as any experience with this tank please let me know I am reading mixed reviews.(which it seems like almost every product in this hobby gets mixed reviews) Saw petco is running the 1$ per gallon sale looking to pick up a 40g to start my own DIY sump. Now still shopping around for overflow, skimmer, RODI, and return pump.

So today I went ahead and picked up a 40g breeder tank that I plan on making in to a sump. Just waiting trying to make the final decision on the tank. My lfs has a 90g aqueon for a great prices. Im considering picking that up tomorrow. Question I am considering the Arctic S026 lights that are on sale. How many of those would I need for a 90g tank 48-1/2" length 18-1/2" Width and 25-3/8" high. Could I run two or would I need Three? Time to start researching skimmers want to get that and return pump figured out before I start work on the sump. Also need an overflow. I was considering Eshopps 125 Gallon Overflow box. Suggestions for return and skimmer would be helpful.

I us an eshopps overflow on my 40 gallon tank, the 300 GPH one. Ever had an issue with it

If your going to run a sump buy a reef ready tank! They are called overflows for a reason a drilled tank is much safer

I'm going to be upgrading to sump soon as well. I plan on using an Eshopps overflow too.
