Hello,

I am getting back into Salt Water tanks. I am looking for a tank that is 5’ wide or so. I am wondering what to purchase and connect with other enthusiasts as questions might arise. My first question is around building out the space. I have a perfect nook that is against a wall that has access to a water and a drain. Is it worth tapping into those?

The drain, maybe. Water probably not. Most recommend RODI, so unless you are talking about hooking the water lines up to an RODI system, that's really what it would be good for.

Todd,
@Maggie321 is on the right track for an RO/DI unit. You can tap in the RO/DI unit into the water line and use the drain for the units waste water. I would not run a reef without RO/DI water.

Either way, Welcome to our Reef 2 Reef family and hope you feel at home :)
