Hello everyone, I just started up the my tank not too long ago and figured I would join a forum to get some information and view how awesome other peoples set-ups are. I have always been into aquariums and was raised up around them. My parents used to breed certain fish and also have tons of their own and amazing aquariums. (House full of 100+ gallon aquariums) they have always had freshwater tanks though.

I have always wanted a saltwater set up but have always been intimidated and heard horror stories about how hard they are and costly, but I finally decided to take the step after tons of research, although I'm sure there's tons to learn and talking to other people instead of reading articles online will be very beneficial.

For my set up I have a 55 gallon tank, I have a coral bottom set up, heater, protein skimmer, another air supply, I have a waterfall filter which I used mostly to help clear the tank after the dusty coral(I rinsed it but still made the tank cloudy) but I still have the waterfall running.

I have the temperature running roughly 75-78 defrees. My salinity is finally where it needs to be after some tinkering, and also all my tests came back with good results, PH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate.

Due to my work schedule and timing of getting my tank set up, Friday I'm finally going to get some fish for it. I was thinking a clown and tang for now. Also I've heard a clean up crew would be good to have like a turbo snail, red legged hermit crab or something like that.

Sorry for the massive post, but I'm pretty excited to finally be getting into the hobby. Any advice or tips is appreciated. Also is adding live rock something I should look into? I've seen many mixed opinions.

I'm pretty far away lol. I'm in the northeastern part. About 45 minutes or so from Harrisburg.

Welcome and keep them pics coming.

Thanks everyone! Can't wait to finally get everything in the tank and add some fish. Will def be adding pics as it progresses.

Thanks everyone! I finally have some live and dry rock in there seeding/cycling as well now, even without fish it's still been lots of fun setting everything up and testing the water.

it's hard to tell in the picture, but it's not all solid rock from front to back, I made little caves and tunnels for the fish to hang out in and travel through, I didn't think I was going to, but making an hour and a half trip to the nearest reef store/ aquarium store I bought around 50/55lbs instead of half like I originally planed, I'd say about 75% or a little less is live rock, the rest is dry
