Got my aquarium filled and man was that quite the adventure. I have everything running for now I believe pretty wall. Started the cycle two days ago. Have protein skimmer off and filter socks removed. So have a question. Before I get fish after the cycle is done should I put pods in the tank? Put them in main display or the refugium? Will my skimmer eat them all up when I turn it on or leave it off for an amount of time? I went all new rock, live sand. Should I introduce coralline algae in a bottle after the cycle and before fish or is it safe to do that after adding fish and should wait? Sorry about all the questions but this won't be the last and the majority will probably be very entry level LOL.

Pods are optional but I am a fan. You can add them whenever as they are able to tolerate extreme conditions. Something like eco pods from live aquaria would be a good choice. You can always feed live phyto to boost their numebrs if you so desire. The skimmer will not be an issue for the pods.

As for the coralline, you can add this whenever. The bottle is the safest method to not get an unwanted hitchiker but scrapings from other tanks work too. Just keep the lights off on the tank till you put it in or get a coral. This will help keep down the bad algae while the tank is in the first few weeks.

Thank you! I appreciate it!
