I just bought a brand new simplicity 240 DC skimmer butt. I’ve had it running for a few hours and it hasn’t pulled up any skim. it’s in 8 inches of water. if anyone has any experience with this, please help me.

thank you

Not with that specific model, but where is the foam level in the skimmer? Ideally you want it foaming just below the bottom of the collection cup.
at the bottom of collection cup. its just the small tiny bubbles theres no big ones that are breaking if that makes sense lol

It does, yes. Most skimmers need a few days to break-in, and if you have an exceptionally clean tank you may not get as much skim as others. After a few days you'll get some buildup on the neck and then the skim will tend to bubble and "climb" up the neck.

You can always adjust the level so that it bubbles higher, ie: partially up the neck of the collection cup.

thank you! ill follow up to see how it goes

As @blaxsun mentioned, it is not unusual for a skimmer to take a few days to break in. In fact, I have had skimmers that took a week or more. Good luck!
