I have an octopus bh100f hob skimmer. It has been running for 12 days now. Super quiet. My tank is fairly new still . about 3 months or so. Should I expect any skimate this early? I have to set the cup pretty low , to get fairly large bubbles in the neck and no foam yet.

Be patient. The skimmer is still in its break in period. Usually takes a few weeks for it to get in its groove. Also depends how high the cupbis pushed down. You dont want it too wet.

You should be getting foam or liquid by now. You might try washing it out with warm water. Maybe your tank is super clean. Give it some time and see what happens.

Careful with that HOB close the gate to much and you will have water on the floor. Skimmer working fine if you see bubbles you just dont have anything to skim out no fish no food no poop. No mate

New skimmes usually take about 2 weeks to break in. Cleaning them up using vinegar and water will remove the resin from the acrylic and break it in much faster.

More then likely your waters pretty clean of protein. How's the surface agitation in your tank?

I think that NanaReefer is correct water might be pretty clean I have a 40 breeder set up for 3 1/2 weeks and I just started to get a good skim. I think all skimmers need a few weeks to brake in.
