So I changed the pump on my skimmer this past Sunday and since then the skimmer has stopped Pulling any waste from the tank. It's producing lots of small bubbles, but no bigger ones are making it to the collection cup. It is tuned the same way it was before I changed the pump. Before the change, the skimmer was pulling along of waste from the tank. The reason I changed the pump is that the original pump was cutting off periodically and would have trouble starting back up. Do you think that the pump has to break in before it can start producing like when a skimmer is new? Thanks for the advice

Two things... first, the pump might need a break in period where some of the oils from manufacturing need to wear off. Second, if the pump is not the same, it might not be a good "fit" for the body... too much flow, bubbles, or too few can be a problem - if it is the same model of pump, then this is no issue at all.

Hopefully it's just the break in period I'm going through. I tuned the flow up a little and it overflowed the cup , had to turn it back down.

I'm actually thinking about pulling the skimmer out and running it in a bucket of water with some vinegar. Does this sound like a good idea?

If you have any skimmate from another skimmer pour that in a remote container and run that way.

It looks like it is starting to slowly break in this afternoon! I'm seeing the bubbles start to get bigger and a little skim mate start to form in the cup! I hope that it gets better in the next few days!
