New skimmer

Contemplating a new skimmer for 125 gallon Fish only w 34 inch trigger sapphire sump , Any tried and true recommendations. I want something efficient and QUIET.

Quiet and super efficient. Also very underrated skimmers.
Tunze 9410dc. I have, and also run, a 9430dc on my full sps 120.
I ran the 9410dc on my 120 for 2 years with great results and its now on my 45 frag system.
You dont have to turn them off to clean the cup as the neck is attatched to the cup. Has anti overflow. Its as set and forget, except to clean the cup, as they come.
Quiet, you cant hear them run.

I feel They are made of CHEAP PLASTIC for what u pay could buy sturdier acrylic.

most are cheaper plastic. If you want amazing quality and most quiet it goes to bubble king. Best build quality and sicce ac or dc pumps go ultra reef skimmers. A little lower build quality and dc pump would be the reef octopus but it is still an amazing protein skimmer. All will get the job done well just matters your preference, I went from a Nyos 120 to an ultra reef akula 160. Ultra reef is definitely better than nyos build quality wise, it is about half as quiet as well

I use a reef octopus int 150 classic. It's great as long as it is sitting at the right water level.

Aquamaxx Q series. Pulls out really dark almost black skim. I clean my Q-3 cup every 4-5 days on my 120g

Did you mean that the Ultra Reef is half as noisy or twice as loud ?

Ultra reef is quieter than the nyos, good catch

I have the maxspect AD600 with dual pumps on my 180DT, 40 gal sump, 30 frag tank. Most quiet Skimmer I've ever had or seen, and better build quality than my reef octopus 200. With both pumps open it'll over skim your tank for sure, but you can close the inlet on one pump and open the inlet on the second pump wide open and you would then have an in-sump recirculating Skimmer. I recirc my 600 when I'm out of town as I won't be feeding as much.
