just received my new skimmer. i got a bubble magus as it was priced right. i was afraid it would be kinda low quality given the price. however i was really surprised it seems to be good quality. the acrylic is thick and heavy and is also molded so there are no seams. the pump is an atman but they ar eused on other skimmers as well. all in all it seems to be of great quality for the price. 1 hour running and it is pulling out dirty water already lots of micro bubbles in display, hope that will go away as it breaks in. but is definatly better than the eshopps they carry locally for twice the price , mine cost 150 shipped to my door. and cheaper than a reef octo.sorry i meant to take a picture but forgot was in too bug a hurry to get it running. i will keep you updated on performance in the near future.

Good find! Those are quality skimmers. It will take some time to break in, so micro bubbles will be an issue for about a 6-8 days.

ok the micro bubbles have ceased going into the display and im getting tea colored skimmate. what does water level do. it is recommeneded to be between 8 and 10 inches. i have it at 9 currently should i try movif up to 8.

If your skimmer doesn't have gate valve to regulate the ammount of water in your skimmer that's what the recomendation is for. Lower water = thicker skim. More water = wetter skim. Same with air valve if ur skimmer has one.

it does have a gate valve but no air valve. i just used some egg crate to raise it up 1 inch. allowed for more adjustment to the gate valve. pi coming soon.
