I currently have an evolution 500 and thinking of going to a cone skimmer. Setup is a 75 display with 20 gallon sump. Was thinking the reef octopus 1000sss (would like to do the 2000 but not sure if space allows) or skimz181...I have a 11x10 footprint and baffle is 8". Any suggestions?! Thx fun advance for your input.

Bump really? No one else? Of all the opinions and advice on other threads? Does no one like me:(

I like the reef octopus skimmers. They are pretty reliable and if you have issues the customer service is good.

You may also look at Bubble Magnus. I've got the 180EX, and I love it. Or even an ASM Skimmer. I don't think you could go wrong with either of the 3.

I have an ASM G3 and I love it. I hard recommended it to others. It's easy to dial in and skims well.

Thanks everyone! Any input on skimz skimmers. Buddy just got one and seems pretty awesome too. Really struggling just don't wanna buy another:) would love the bubble king mini but can't justify in my head the $900 price tag:(

Those of u running reef octo....the base of cone is in 5.5" of water right? The sss says 5.5" of water but pump is underneath so trying to figure out if base of cone or bottom of pump is supposed to be 5.5". Uggghhhh can't get anyone in phone from coral vue. If the base of cone at 5.5" is ok I can do the xp2000sss but won't be able to raise it up.

I believe you just want to have a water level in your sump of at least 5.5". I own a SWC160 cone and would recommend the Octo before it. It's a great skimmer, but I've had start-up issues with the Atman pump from time to time. Bubble Blaster pump has a 3 year warranty also.

Well so I picked up the 2000 Friday and here it is! What an ordeal trying to get this in there! Had to vacume out sump, pull forward, un-do unions, and come in through the back of the stand!!! what the heck?!! LOL I am going to have a custom acrylic sump made by a fellow reefer which will enable me to get this thing in and out easier!
