So I have decided to go forward with the 48x24x16 rimless build. What do you guys and gals recommend for a sump? And Lighting? This will be my attempt at all SPS and I will prob run a starboard bottom and only have a few fish.
I will run an ATB 840 skimmer two Vortech MP 40 quiet drives and dose with an ATO and kalk and have a bubble Magnus dosing pump in line as needed. Also the whole thing will operate off an Apex.
I think I will have minimal live rock so I may try and use the Marine Pure rock any thoughts on this as well?

Any other suggestions?

I do run a 72x30x24 mixed reef but never felt like I could keep both LPS and SPS equally happy. So experiment time for peace of mind.

DH350 (?kermit)-- I have the almost the same tank dimensions (except '18 height) and love it-- with the rimless design that 16 inches is gonna be 14 inches in reality which is pretty shallow...just something I know I didn't think about when planning... I have the ATI-LED 4 bulb 3 LED light over the tank and it can do it all! Custom sump by synergy reef that I love and I can share specifics if interested... If you go with the shallower tank, I would consider doing a all t5 setup as well...

Here's a pic of the sump I built out of a 40b using the baffle kit from exotic marine!

Are those acrylic baffles or glass? I was interested in that baffle kits because I am going to be doing a DIY sump as well. But, I heard that acrylic does not bond to glass very well at all. I have heard many nightmares about that acrylic to glass bonds.

They are acrylic. Acrylic will not bond to glass at all. Silicone is used to bond the panels to the glass, while silicone doesn't make a complete bond to acrylic like it does to glass it is plenty strong to hold a few baffles in a sump.
