Hey y'all,

I have been wanting to upgrade my sump for some time now to make it more accessible for me to get to and wanted more water volume. So I just ordered the Trigger systems Sapphire 34" sump. Also since I was getting a new sump I decided to get rid of my deal of the day eBay return pump and get an ecotech M1. My question is with the pump is it better to run it with PVC or vinyl/braided tubing? Also I have a fuge in my current sump, should I just get all new sand and seed with a little of the old sand or move all of the old sand over to the new fuge? Thank you all for the help and advice!

I always try to set mine up so that the PVC comes down directly above the pump with about a 6" or so gap and a barb fitting on both ends then use silicon tubing. Cuts way down on any vibrations between the pump and plumbing.

Im running the same sump and am really liking it. Its on a new build that has only been up and running for about 6 weeks, but I'm loving the room for equipment. Im running a quiet one 4000 return pump maxed out with about 4' of head (guessing around 750 gph) to a 90G DT. I ran pvc directly from the pump to the rear or the stand, where I then went to 3/4 braided line from there. I also added a single manifold out for water changes. My siphon break is about 1.5" into the DT water so that when i turn off the pump, I allow enough tank water to siphon back into the sump for a 6-7 gallon water change.

To answer your original question, the pump it self will prob determine what type of plumbing is best. Mine is slightly noisy, but nothing compared to the motor or vibration noise my skimmer makes :(

pipe that threads on to remove water for water changes
