Hello reefers....
I am getting a new tank. SAC 180 gallon PNP system. I think I need to reconfigure the sump it comes with but I have questions on if it will work the way I want / need it to.
The sump comes like this with these measurements...
SUMP SPEC: VOLUMES 68 GALLONS
EXTERNAL DIMENSION L x W x H 52 x 17 x 17.8 INCHES
CHAMBER #1 L x W [DRAIN] 10.20 x 16.2 INCHES
CHAMBER #2 L x W [SKIMMER] 9 x 16.2 INCHES
CHAMBER #3 L x W [REFUGIUM] 8 x 16.2 INCHES
CHAMBER #4 L x W [RETURN PUMP] 10.20 x 16.2 INCHES
CHAMBER #5 L x W [ATO REVERSOR] 10.20 x 16.2 INCHES
I was looking at moving the baffels to give me the room I am looking for.
I want a larger fuge section and a larger ATO. I'm not looking to chande the baffles around, just simply move them over to create more space.
My idea is to shrink the drain section to 8 inches
expand the 2nd section to 12 inches and use it for the fuge
move the 3rd section over and leave it at 8 inches and use it for skimmer
Shrink the 4th section to 6 inches for the return
expand the 5th section to 14 inches for the ATO
This would give me 13.5 gallons for the fuge in the 2nd section and 15.8 gallons in the ATO
Does anyone see why this would NOT work?
Would the skimmer section remain a constant water level?
Would there be enough space for the drain water to not overflow?
would there be enough water in the return section?
The drain pipe is 1.5 inches and the return line is 1 inch.
I will be using a Jecod DCP-15000: 19x12.6x15.9cm/7.5x5x6.3inch return pump
AquaMaxx ConeS CO-2 In-Sump Protein Skimmer 22.1" 7.1" x 14.2”
Advice will be VERY helpful as I should be getting the tank sometime next week.
Thanks...
