I had an old 33g sump that was old school, not mechanical filtration. So I redid it.
It came with a bulkhead for the return. I made that bay large enough to house the pump, but I'm not sure if I should go int. or ext. The pump is dc and I plan to run it low, at 8 watts, so heat wont be a factor. Whats the pros/cons on int. vs ext.?
I also added a fuge bay. I plan to have a 4" sand bed but not sure what sand to use. I have fine, medium and some fairly course sand already. The fine sand, I think, is silica. The other sand is definitely crushed coral.
