Hi Everyone,

I just joined and am very excited that I have found this group. I have a 75 Gallon reef that I have had for almost a year. It is not drilled but I want to add a sump. I am looking at the IceCap15 because I have very limited space under my stand. I have the Marineland majesty stand and tank and the stand had a center brace down the front so I have to find something small enough to maneuver through the doors. I was hoping to get some advice on an overflow box as well as skimmer and return pump. I want to do my best to prevent floods so figured I need to ask for advice before I just jump right in. I do have a battery backup so hopefully, that will help in the event of a power failure. Thank you so much for your help!!

Welcome to R2R !!:)

This is a basic run down on sumps that should answer some of your questions link

This is great, thank you so much!!

Your welcome:)

I built my own sump for my 72 gal. I used a CPR overflow and also located my sump in a closet near my tank. This gave me the space I needed, instead of compromising for space under the stand. This is my first sump setup after a long time reefing. With the overflow question, make sure you sump is large enough for absorb the water from the system if the system shuts down. I have my sump plumbed for a drain and in case the water gets to high in the sump.;)

I drilled through two walls and over my wife shoe rack, I did that when she was out of town:rolleyes::D:D

Welcome, already sounds like you will fit right in. Keep us updated on progress with pics

Thanks so much for the warm welcome everyone. I think I have everything ordered. I ordered the IceCap 15 sump, an Aquamaxx in-sump skimmer (i have the 1.5 HOB now and love it so thought I would try the in sump one), Lifereef overflow and an eshopps overflow as well just so I have a spare. Oh and I got the Reef Octopus Varios 2 return pump and all the tubing and stuff, hopefully i didnt forget anything. Depending on when everything gets here this may just be my weekend project!! It will be so nice to get everything out of my display and into the sump. I will take some before pics and then pics of the process as well. Now hopefully the husband doesn't flip out when he sees all of the boxes start coming in :D

I am just realizing that my current heater will not fit in the sump. looks like the biggest compartment in the sump is my skimmer chamber which is 10 x 9.5. I was going to put the heater in there but I can't seem to find one that will fit and still heat my tank (75gallon). Am I really stuck with having a heater in the display? Thanks again for all of the help with this!!

Maybe 2 smaller ones run with a controller. Also, if the room is kept at a somewhat constant temp it will help keep tank in line.

I have a titanium heater run off a controller. I laid my heater on the bottom of the sump completely under water. since it did not have the thermometer housed in it it can be fully submerged

Few thoughts, hope things good today.
