This just appeared in my sump. What is it? Do I want it in my sump? Does it impact my display as a result? Help! Info needed!!

That would be an aiptasia anemone, you definitely do not want it, and it will definitely affect your display and probably already has. Get it out and do your best to eliminate any more you see. Some Peppermint shrimp eat them and you can also cover them in kalkweisser paste to try to eliminate them. Usually if you see one there's more since they populate very quickly.

Pieces of it make more. So if you damage it in the tank you could have 20-30 more.

No my file fish isn't eating them. But he is cute so I forgive him.

I want a file fish too. Just now cured after almost 4 months so only have 2 chromosomes and a lawnmower blenny. Taking my time but these pests are aggravating!!!

Thanks all. It was on one of my sump blocks by itself so I just threw the whole block in the trash. Fingers crossed!
