New T maxima

Howdy everybody,

Just wanted to post a pic of a T maxima I got over the weekend. It's about 3" at this point. I haven't had a clam in quite awhile and just fell in love with the coloration on this one when I saw it...

Very nice clam, the colors are amazing. Looks to be a crocea but looks stunning nonetheless. Good score!

Looks good. I used to have a about an 8 inch maxima. They are awesome!

Thanks! I was thinking the same thing about whether it may have been a mis-marked crocea. What are the tell tale signs?

Well I'm not clam expert by no means, but this is how I identify them. The shell. For a maxima there are the ribs or shelf looking ribs on the side of the shell. For the crocea they are more like a smooth shell that you see pearls come in. Hope that helps.

Looks like a stunning Crocea rather than a Maxima to me as well.

Here's kind of a horrible side shot, maybe this will help? Seems like it's only moderately asymmetrical, which leads me to think crocea, but I'll wait for the experts to chime in.
