I recently added a white tail bristletooth tang to my tank yesterday and was hoping to add a potters angel at the same time but they ended up shipping a day apart. Seems like the tang claimed the new rocks I added and is having some nipping and tail swiping at the angel. I just added a couple more rock pieces to create another cave to hopefully help out. As it’s been a while since adding new fish, how long does this usually last and at what point to remove one and do a temp ban in the sump? Granted if there are open wounds this is a given, along with some treatment. They both are about the same size at 3.5” which might be aiding the problem.

The size of tank, or lack of can add to it.
Moving rocks around can help.
A big mirror placed up against the side too.
After a few days it should chill, if it will

Both similar size. I added new rocks to my scape to create another cave since all my current rocks are mortared down. I put a mirror up but think they are currently in the same cave since they got scared of me adding the rocks in the tank. Guess we will see and can send one to the sump if needed. Just curious how long to give it before moving one to the sump.

I would give it a day. An acclimation box is another option.

How big is the tank?

48x24x20. Acclimation box in a day or now? I have one somewhere but will take some digging.
That should be enough room.

Tough call on the box. As long as it's not too serious, I'd would let them be. A mirror and feeding heavy can both help.

It’s looking better already. They don’t seem to care for the new cave I added but the one the new tang claimed has an upstairs section that the angel seems to be claiming. Mainly was concerned with it realizing separate hiding spots since they should in theory get a long in the long run.
