I was about to start a 100g reef. Then I found a 225 72x24x28. My first tank is currently a 40g breeder. Im thinking this is a big jump haha. I have a few questions. 1st. Should I build my stand out of wood or steel. I just seem on tidal gardens they built 400g stand. What looks to be 1x6 and 4x4 post. 2nd what is a good skimmer on a system of 300g. 3rd this tank is pre drilled with 3/4 holes. Is that enough or should I make one side full drain Herbie style.

A well built wood stand is more then enough for a 225. You want to go larger for the returns. I''d go at least 1 1/4

Yeah I could cut two hole in the back center and make the two holes in the overflow drains. Also the bottom trim is missing in some spots. What’s the risk factor there. Anyone know?

On that tank the trim is just decorative.

Also I don’t know if you can see the left corner silicone is a bit white color. I thought if it has a good seal then it should be a blue color. If I need to reseal the corners. Can I just cut out the corner seal and stop before the joint to reseal.

Does anyone have any picture of wood stands holding 350g or large tanks. Thinking about using wood but I want a open sump area.
