New Tank Advice

Hi everyone.
So I am looking at a 75 gallon tank for me. I am a newbie and want to do a mixed reef but my thing is I want to do a tang in it maybe two. I know I read it’s prolly not possible cause of size but I thought I would ask anyhow.

While there are many different opinions on the appropriate size of tank for a tang, you may consider a bristle tooth tang for a 75g. Good luck with whatever you choose!

A 55g minimum, a 90g ideal as would be a 125 gallon.
Do you have a tang in mind or are you seeking suggestions? A bristletooth as mentioned is good (white tail, tomini) otherwise others on smaller end would be Hepatus (Dory), chocoloate (also called Mimic tang) and Lavender as examples

What fish do you currently have? Tangs are nervous swimmers so they can be very hard to acclimate into a community especially with limited swimming space.

I haven’t gotten the tank yet. I was just thinking options. I wanted like a 120 cause of the 4 foot foot print cause a 6 foot foot print won’t fit anywhere. Any other suggestions on a tank maybe ? The reason why I was thinking of the 75 was is petco had 1/2 off tanks right now but yes I know they aren’t the best and yes I would have to retro it but I need a 4 foot foot print please.

Other 4 ft options, 90, 120 and 150. 150 being way to tall to keep clean and do maintenance

Width is an important consideration for a reef tank and yes I agree 120 is a great size. You can look at Craigslist and FB Marketplace. Whole system sales can be a great way to get a good deal on not only an expensive reef setup but a lot of the equipment as well.
