New Tank Beginner Question..

I'm about 30 days since setting up my aquarium and I'm starting to get brown algae on the back side and rocks. Should I clean the back side like I do on the left,right and front glass? Is brown algae normal for a 30 day old tank?

Can you add a few pics. If its diatoms, it will take its course of action. Dont worry about it. Are you still cycling or done cycling

Totally normal. Sounds like diatoms, but could be algae also.

You'll go through many varieties of cyano, algae, and diatom outbreaks as the tank seeks stabilization. Many people tend to reduce the amount of time the light is on to help minimize the ability for it to get out of control. I did that with the addition of adding CUC members very slowly (over from my coral and invert QT) to combat the algae.

IME, its going to get worse before it gets better. But, it happens to every tank and if you just keep maintaining your tank well it will go away.

I've always left the back glass alone. A little algae is highly beneficial; it helps control algae growth elsewhere by absorbing nutrients, and it's a natural food source for herbivores.
