New Tank Build filtration advice?

Hello. I'm in the midst of upgrading to my third tank (10-20-45) and it will be the first time using a sump/skimmer combo. My question is this adequate filtration for this type of setup? Do I need a refugium or other apparatus? Was following BRS 5 min setup for their 40 gallon and it looked like they stopped with an in sump skimmer.

Pros/Cons? Suggestions?

I prefer refugium with strong lighting over skimmer since I don't do water changes but it is up to you. Skimmers are more handy for heavy fish loads

You can run a tank with a skimmer only, refugium only, or a combination. I prefer to use skimmers (when the tank is large enough) for the added benefit of gas exchange, but it's personal preference and there are pros/cons to each system. A sump/skimmer combo is a pretty popular combination, so if you are following the BRS guide, I see no reason why you need to switch, only if you wanted to experiment with different forms of nutrient export.
