New Tank Build Flow

When it come to flow, what pumps do you recommend since I am on a budget. I'm currently looking at the Jebao OW25 pumps but noticed after a year most Jebao pumps start to malfunction. Can someone help me with some additional budgetary pumps to look into.

I also run a few jebaos for additional turbulant flow. I think the higher quantity of stops and starts from my programming does a number on these pumps and I too replace them every year or so. My MP40's have been going strong for 4 years so far.. While they haven't broken even vs the jebao yet, it sure is close..

I did just try one of the jebao gyres in my frag tank (48x24x12) and am surprised by the amount of water it moves.

If I was on a budget, I would likely continue on using the Jebao.. A gyre and a powerhead on random for tubulant flow might be a good combo. If you want something that will last longer, try looking at the Tunze powerheads.

I like the way the jebao gyre and powerhead setup sounds. I saw the BRS-160 using a similar setup with maxspect gyre and MP40s.

Are you able to control the Tunze without the controller or is the controller necessary?

I have a jebao PP-4 going on 4 yrs now... always ran elise mode.
Ran SW series garbage only lasts a few months on a couple of them and one made it a year, also loud!
I have 2 OW40's awesome still going strong after a year and half, just bought an ow50 to replace my last SW15 that died. Ow50 is massive! but I love it and so do my sps. I run the OW40s on elise also and ow50 on W2.

Keep them clean and the better they will last.

I also used an icecap 3k on my frag and like it. when dirty it gets loud that's how i know to clean it... silent otherwise, not sure I would try a jebao grye... yet

What size take do you run the OW40s? I building a 90 gallon 48" tank and thinking of running the OW25s.

Running it on a 180. If your SPS dominant I would say 2 0w40's, if mixed probably be fine with ow25's
