Hello everyone. I am interested in having a
300+ gallon tank built for my house. I have been going from store to store
trying to find a reputable, reliable company/person that will be able to
complete the tank build in a REALISTIC time. I do not want to wait 4-5 months
for the tank to be built.

I have gone by 2 stores in the Miami area and
so far seem to be pleased with what both people said. I am just not sure how
good they both are on actually keeping up with their quotes, for both time,
quality and price.

I stopped by Exotic Aquariums off Bird Road and also
Miami Reef Aquariums. Exotic Aquariums seemed like it had pretty much EVERYTHING
you can think of. However they did not have any custom tanks, only standard
tanks. They quoted me on price and time but they did not have any in house
examples to show me. I would like to go with them simply for the fact that the
store is huge and they look like a pretty reputable source. However, we all know
looks can be deceiving.

My next stop was just a few doors down to Miami
Reef Aquariums. This store was probably 1/4 the size of the prior store I
visited. But what really impressed me was the custom tank he was building. I
believe he said it was a 300gallon tank and boy was it a beauty. Pretty much the
EXACT tank I was looking for. It had to be 8'x2'x3' (I don't know if that is the
exact size) Everything looked VERY clean and the overflow was a really nice one
sided custom glass design. Although he mentioned he could put the overflow
wherever I wanted it.

If anyone has had a tank built by either person,
knows someone or has any good information on either store any feedback and
information would be greatly appreciated.

I actually passed by both stores yesterday aswell. I'm not a huge fan of exotic I always seem to find dead fish in there tanks and it smells weird. Miami aquariums on the other hand I know specializes in making custom tanks so I would probably go with them. There are a couple other stores too you might want to check out. There's strictly fish on bird and about 80th I think and there's also aquarium concepts on sunset and 117. I don't know if they make custom tanks but it don't hurt to try

There's also Oceanview aquariums which is also on bird and 68th, probably the nicest store ive been to, they just don't have as much selection of fish and such

I believe Reef Savvy is located in the Tamiami Airport area and they handle custom tanks. Not sure about cost or time but their name came up because I was doing a google search for nearby LFS stores.
