It was suggested I start a new tank build thread. So here goes.

After having a good many items just sitting around for 7-8 years, including stand and canopy, Pukani rock, a brand new skimmer, and a brand new 90 gallon tank built with the return on opposite side so it doesn’t obstruct view of tank from hallway and kitchen, I am FINALLY getting things moving on my first reef tank. Long story but I had to postpone many times.
Over last few weeks I cured rock and it’s sitting in sun for about a week to make sure all chlorine gasses off. Then I will start the rock cycle process in tank.
I was very surprised at all the gunk and yuk that was hidden in the Pukani. There was also over an inch of sand in the bottom of bin I used for soaking.
I fortunately have a well experienced person that is helping me get it set up soon. He’s the owner of a local fish store that’s been in business over 30 years. He’s building my sump now.

Here are a few pictures and I’ll post updates as I progress. Thank you!

Very nice! You have some excellent rock to work with. Very interesting pieces.

Thank you. I was at store as soon as rock arrived. It was still in parking lot. So I was first there to choose. (That was back in about 2012) I tried to get pieces with variety of sizes and shapes. I’m sure I’ll have extra but I will keep leftover rock in case I get brave and try a nano tank or larger tank in a few years. :) At least it’s all cured so I don’t have to do that again.
