Hi reef2reef! I got my new crystal dynamics tank delivered. The tank is eurobraced, so I’m wondering what kind of powerheads should I go with. My current tank has two tunzes on a sea sweep, and they’re doing a great job, but on my new tank I think they’ll look too bulky. The tank is 36x24x20.
Do you think 4 vortechs be enough for a bare bottom sps tank? I plan on doing open minimal rockwork.
Thanks reef2reef!

How’s the flow on vortechs? Seems like I would have to get at least 4 of them since they are non directional.

I think four Vortechs would be plenty. You could probably get away with two.

What kind of lighting are you thinking? My next build will be the same dimensions (IM 75 ext), so I'm curious what you'll be using.

I will be using my the same light I have now.
36 inch 8 bulb powermodule.

How do you like the build quality of the tank? I just ordered a 120gal (48x24x24) from Crystal Dynamic but with an internal overflow.

I currently have a 90gal softies and a few LPS with an Icecap 3k gyre. It can be a bit loud but does move alot of water. Gets pretty dirty too which I should clean it more often than I do.

Good luck with the build.

The tank is really nice. I love the whole rimless look of it. My tank will be mostly sps so I’m going to want a lot of flow, at least 4 powerheads, maybe octo pulses.

On this new tank build I will only have a few select acros. Only high end frags will go in the new tank.
Everything that’s in my current tank will be chopped up and put in to the frag tank that I just recently set up.
The acros going into my new tank are Walt Disney, homewrecker, Matt v orange envy, Matt v rainbow envy, Jason fox jolt, tgc acrolandia, f2m chrome illusion, and maybe rr pretty in pink. I want a tank with just a few nice colonies.

4 vortechs would give you a lot of room to optimize flow! What are you gonna do for the vortechs? 4 mp-10? Or 2 mp10 and two mp40?
I won’t be going with vortechs. I already have two tunze 6105 on a sea sweep. I just ordered two reef octopus op4. I think this will give me plenty of flow for thins new tank. I like how much flow the op4 puts out for the price.
