Hey everyone!
So I recently bought a saltwater tank and then added 2 Ocellaris Clownfish. At the store (Big Als Newmarket) the guy told me that for 3 weeks I shouldnt clean the tank or do a water change. Its been about a week now and I'm fine with the algae because Im gonna add snail and hermits in a few weeks, but the sand is gettign quite dirty and so is part of the aquarium glass. What should I do? Leave it like the guy said too?

Thanks, Thomas

Hey Thomas,

I don't know exactly what you were told, but it's an odd recommendation to say the least ;)

I would definitely focus on good husbandry- this includes regular water changes (cleaning the glass is optional- it's for us, not the tank). Make sure you match the salinity and temperature, but don't wait three weeks because of new fish ;). I would never stop doing consistent water changes because of new fish.

I used fast cycling bacteria... so I didn't clean the tank or anything for ~1 week after adding that. But otherwise, I'm running filter socks, protein skimmer, etc.
